Karen Elaine Artman, 65, of Rural Valley, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, July 17, 2018 while vacationing in Costa Rica with her husband Ed Artman, celebrating their 30th Wedding Anniversary. She was born March 2, 1953 to the late Paul and Rosalee Claypoole. Karen worked for Moonlight Mushroom Mine for 20 years as a picker then Passavant as a Patient Care assistant for 20 years before retiring in 2015. She was a graduate of Freeport High School who was a very adventurous person who loved to travel with her husband Ed. She enjoyed reading and was an avid Steelers and Penguins fan. She especially loved spending time with her family camping, making Christmas cookies and all the little trips they did together.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 30 years, H. Ed Artman; loving mother of Roy Cornetti, TX, Elaine (Steve) DePastino, Creekside, Valerie (Michael) Shane, Natrona Heights, Brenda (Richard) Thimons, Brackenridge, Carla Robinson, Tarentum; dear sister of Brenda Wyant, Freeport and Larry (Donna) Claypoole, New Mexico. Grandmother of Felecia and Greg Cornetti, Frank (Yui) Drahos, Tori Drahos, Kelly (Jon) Finch, Keri and Katelyn Robinson, Lynette (Ryan) Robertson, Richard Thimons, Stephanie, Jeremiah (Sierra), Michael (Geri) Shane, Demi Negrich, Danielle DePastino and Maya and Cameron Edinburgh and 10 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her late husband Donald Robinson, Sr., son Donald Robinson, Jr., grandson Donald Robinson and a special Aunt and Uncle Don and Clair Claypoole. Karen’s large heart included so many relatives and friends, too numerous to name but will be forever loved by her.
