Karen L. Stein Motosicky

September 25, 1952 — January 2, 2021

Karen L. Stein Motosicky, 68, of New Kensington, formerly of Natrona Heights died Saturday, January 2, 2021 after a battle with Lewy Body Dementia.  Born Sept. 25, 1952 in New Kensington, to the late Robert and Aureola Ernette Stein, she was a 1970 graduate of Valley High School. She was a senior news assistant at the Valley News Dispatch in Tarentum for 28 years before retiring in 2015. Karen was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in New Kensington and a 47-year member of the Women of the Moose #711 in Lower Burrell.

The accomplishments of her children, granddaughter, nephews and nieces were a great source of joy and pride in her life. She enjoyed spending her free time supporting and encouraging them in their pursuits. Karen never missed a chance to show off her favorite hat of the moment and she loved cooking, working with flowers and plants, and traveling with her family. She was an ardent supporter of her community and those less fortunate.

Survivors include two children, Kristofer Motosicky of New Kensington and Kara Motosicky of New Hope; a granddaughter, Moriah Motosicky of Greenwood, Ark.; five siblings Robert F. (Ewa) Stein, of Poland, Lawrence E. (Mary Shean) Stein, of New Kensington, Mark J. (Ardis) Stein, of Mingo Junction, Ohio, Aureola A. (Wayne) Schuerle, of Barnesville, Ohio, and Diane M. (Thomas) Swigart, of Lower Burrell; a sister-in-law, Rose Betts, and a brother-in-law Earl Wiskeman, both of Harrison; two aunts, Sarah Jackson, of Macomb Township, Mich., and Elizabeth Ernette, of Harrison City; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death in 2011 by Louis S. Motosicky, whom she married April 16, 1983; and her nephew and godson, Erik G. Stein, in 2015.

The family suggest memorial contributions be made to your local food bank or pantry, Lewy Body Dementia Association.
