Karen J. Myers, 66 of Plum Boro passed away Thursday, December 23, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born April 28, 1955 in Tarentum to the late William Robert and Mary L. (Uleski) Pilston, Sr.
Karen graduated from Highlands High School in 1973 and Clarion University in 1978. She worked as a paralegal in real estate before attending Duquesne Law School. She graduated and passed the bar in 1991. Her legal work was primarily in real estate, although she also worked in banking. Karen and her husband enjoyed Pittsburgh sports teams. They were season ticket holders for the Pittsburgh Steelers but her true devotion was to her beloved Pittsburgh Penguins. They were season ticket holders for 38 years and went to home games and traveled to see them play on the road.
She and her husband Denny, of 40 years were avid travelers. They traveled to all 50 of the United States and Europe, but a favorite destination was Disney World in Orlando, Florida. They vacationed there numerous times and treated many family members to join them on trips. Karen and Denny also loved camping and owned a recreation vehicle. They enjoyed spending most of their time at Wolf’s Den KOA during warm months. Karen was a member of the Plum Creek Presbyterian Church in Plum Boro. As busy as she was, she loved her nieces and nephews and spent much time enjoying their activities with them.
Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Dennis Myers; her siblings, William R. (Mary Ann LaFayette) Pilston, Jr., of Gulf Shores, AL, Linda Hepler, of Tucson, AZ, Cheryl (Raymond) Fortuna, of Fawn Twp., Barbara (Rodger) O’Toole, of Plum Boro, Cynthia Pilston, of Brackenridge, Scott (Lisette Houy) Pilston, of Plum Boro, Rebecca (Jeffrey) Burchell, of Natrona Heights, Ronna Brown (Tom) Pilston , of Plum Boro, brother-in-law Tim James, of Brackenridge. Also surviving are 51 nieces and nephews and aunt Pauline Michalek, of Ann Arbor, MI. Her brother and sister in laws, Patricia (Paul) Schaaf, Leonard (Dana) Myers, Deborah (Thomas) Carrigan, Douglas (Sharon) Myers and Cindy (Eric) Gironda. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her brother Thomas Pilston, sister Pamela James, nephew Paul Hepler, II , niece Tara Lynne Pilston and her father and mother-in-law Albert Paul and Margaret Myers.
Visitation Monday from 3PM until the time of the service at 7 PM in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526 with Rev. Robert B. Walker, officiating. Burial will be private. VISIT:dusterfh.com
