Leila Shamyum Marmalich

Leila S. Marmalich, 84, of Freeport, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, May 24, 2026. She was born March 27, 1942 in British Guyana, South America to the late Dr. Meer Safdar Joe Alli-Shaw and Bibi Aliyah (Rayman) Alli-Shaw. Leila was a former resident of Newbury Park, California, where she worked as a lab technician for Damon Reference Laboratories and later Amgen Pharmaceuticals. She moved in 2004 to Freeport, Buffalo Township, PA. Leila was a plant and flower advocate and enjoyed planting and landscaping her home. She enjoyed photographing all her many flowers and plants.

Survivors include her loving husband of 39 years, Thomas Marmalich and her children, Gregory Duane Kamal Stuart and Denise Soraya Stuart. Also surviving are her siblings, Camille, Janet, Karen, and Zulifiquar. Besides her parent’s she was preceded in death by her siblings, Salim and Leita.

Visitation Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 3 – 6 PM in Duster Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026 at 11 AM.
