Leonard Blair Mason, 72, formerly of Tarentum, passed away at home, Saturday, September 10, 2022 in Clinton, MD with his wife Alvaroe by his side. Lenny was born May 13, 1950 in Natrona Heights, to the late Leonard and Lois (Clough) Mason. Lenny was a 1968 graduate of Tarentum High School. He attended Allegheny County Community College while working full time at Montgomery Wards as an auto mechanic. He graduated with an Associate degree in Police Science. Lenny began working at the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Police Department in 1971, retiring in 1991 as a Lieutenant. He enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, and cooking ribs on the grill. He loved his dogs Maggie and Benny and 2 birds Rosie and Rocky.
Lenny is survived by his wife Alvaroe “Missy” Mason; son David (Rachel) Mason, of Winter Springs, FL, step sons Michael Growhowski, of Orlando FL and Derrick Thorne, of Washington, D.C.; three sisters Lucille Hoover and Janie Baenig, both of Brackenridge, Lois Jean George, of Conway, PA and brother Larry (Debbie) Mason, of Arnold, PA. Also surviving is a nephew Bob Baenig, of Brackenridge; three grandchildren Kassandra, Alyssa and Kip and a great grandson Jude, all of Winter Springs, FL. Lenny was preceded in death by his sister Violet A. Marso in 2015, a niece Roberta Jean George and two brother-in-law’s George Hoover and Robert George.
Lenny was laid to rest at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, Maryland. VISIT: dusterfh.com
