Lester M. Thickey, Jr., 81 of Tarentum, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2024, joining the love of his life, Carol A. Thickey. He was born May 11, 1943 in Tarentum to the late Lester M. and Margaret “Peg” Thickey, Sr. Lester lived his entire life in Tarentum and was a Mill Wright at the former Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp. in Brackenridge for 30 years. He was a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Brackenridge and a 1962 graduate of Tarentum High School. Lester was an avid hunter and a very talented craftsman who could build anything. Lester especially enjoyed spending time with his most prized possession his granddaughters.
Survivors include his daughters Leslie A. Mayhugh, of Winfield Twp. and Lisa A. (James) McCleary, of Lower Burrell; granddaughters Faith and Grace Mayhugh, of Winfield Twp. and Josie McCleary, of Lower Burrell. Also surviving is a brother Rodger F. Costello, of Fawn Twp. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Carol A. Thickey in 2021 and a brother Charles K. “Chuck” Thickey in 2012.
Visitation Tuesday from 11AM until the time of service at 1PM in the Duster Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526 with Canon Catherine Brall, officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell. Visit: dusterfh.com
