Lois A. Callen, Nelson 97 formerly of Fawn Twp. passed away Sunday, Dec 24th at Quality Life Services at Fair Winds in Winfield Twp. She was born Nov 9, 1920 in Duluth, MN a daughter of the late Nels and Ann (Maas) Nelson.
Lois lived most of her life in Fawn Twp, and the past 6 yrs at Fair Winds. She was a Secretary for Local 12 Glassworks Union in Creighton for 21 yrs, and was a Veteran of WW#2 serving in the U S Navy Waves as a Yeoman 2C. She also was a member of Pleasant Unity United Presbyterian Church, Fawn Twp where she was a former Treasurer, played guitar and sang in the choir. Lois enjoyed typing, reading, chrocheting, and Norwegian Hardanger embroidery.
Survivors include her children, Janice (Albert) Porter,Jr. of South Buffalo Twp,and Dr. Douglas (Ginny) Callen, North Buffalo Twp,and Grandchildren David Porter, Eric (Ariel) Callen, Susan (John) Levi, Scott (Fran) Porter, Jennifer Jack, Jeffrey (Kelly) Porter, Karen Porter , Great Grandchildren Madison,Alex,Logan, Jonetta,Zachary, Justin, Ben, Donovan, Collin, Samuel, Matthew, Joshua, Logan and Brennen.Also 1 Great, Great Grandson Zayden.Her sister, Eileen Nelson in Duluth MN .
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by: 1st Husband, Wilbur M. “Wib” Callen, her 2nd Husband Fred Nelson, and 1 Brother, Robert Nelson, and 2 sisters, Grace Bartash, and Dorothy Peterson.
Visitation will be Thursday 28th from 2-4 to 6-8 PM in the Duster Funeral Home,Inc. 347 East 10th Ave,Tarentum,Pa15084 . 724-224-1526 where a Service will be conducted Friday at 11AM with her Pastor, Rev Dr. Terry L. Mann officiating. Private Interment will be in Pleasant Unity Cemetery.
