Lynda L. Demharter, 72, of Brackenridge, passed away unexpectedly at home Wednesday, April 14, 2021. She was born September 23, 1948 in Kittanning, to the late James and Dorothy May (McGaughey) Scanlon. Lynda has lived the past 37 years in Brackenridge and prior to that Tarentum. She was the Owner/Operator of DeStefano Florist in Arnold for nearly 20 years. Lynda was of the Methodist faith and a former member of Brackenridge American Legion Auxiliary. She graduated from Kittanning High School in 1966 and was an avid bingo player. Lynda enjoyed baking and she especially enjoyed spending time with her family, children and her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her funny sense of humor, her kind and generous spirit and her willingness to put the needs of those around her before her own.
Survivors include her children, Dawn M. (Petro) James Henderson, of Melbourne, Australia, Krista L. (Petro) Matthew Charlton, of Freeport and Shawn T. (Shaqual) Demharter, of New Kensington; her grandchildren, twins Anna and Lauren Henderson, Courtney Henderson, Matthew Jr. and Cole Charlton, Shawn Jr., Shane and Haley Demharter. Also surviving are her brothers James Scanlon, of Glenshaw and Patrick Scanlon, of West Kittanning. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Louis G. “Skip” Demharter in 2000 and an infant brother Shawn Scanlon.
Visitation 6-8 PM Sunday in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526 where services will be held on Monday at 11 AM with Rev. Gregory L. Spencer, officiating.
