Margaret Irene “Peggy” Long, 70, of West Deer Twp., passed away at home Thursday, October 11, 2018. She was born March 7, 1948 in Harrison Township to the late Harry J. and Iva Mae (Elliott) Long, Jr. Margaret lived most of her life in West Deer Township. She was a Registered Nurse in local hospitals and did teaching as well. Margaret was a member of Pleasant Unity United Presbyterian Church, Fawn Twp. and a graduate of West Deer High School and had a Masters degree in Nursing from the University of Pittsburgh. Margaret was a member of American Bell Association, PA State Button Society and the National Society of Daughter of the American Revolution. She enjoyed collecting bells, buttons, flower gardening and genealogy. Margaret enjoyed her church and her family and singing in her church choir.
Survivors include her brother Alan E. Long, Lower Burrell and sister in law Carol Long, Brackenridge; nieces and nephews Lara L. (Ron) Way, Kristin M. (Matthew) Parillo, Harry J. (Dee Dee) Long, Dr. Nicole C. (Antonio) Fratangelo and Dr. Krista H. (Nathan) Verbanets. Also surviving are numerous great nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Dr. Harry J. (Louise M. Parten) Long, III.
Visitation 2-4 and 6-8 PM Monday in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526 where services will be held on Tuesday at 11 Am with her pastor, Rev. Dr. Terry L.
