Marshall Franklin White

Marshall Franklin White, 79, of Huntsville, Alabama, unexpectedly went to be with the Lord on September 29, 2017.Marshall was born on March 16, 1938, in Roxboro, North Carolina, the son of Bertha (Stone) and Joseph Ruffin White, II. He graduated from Roxboro High School, served in the United States Army, and attended the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where he majored in English. He was employed by the Department of Defense for over forty years. He enjoyed collecting padlocks, antiquing, woodworking, “piddling” in the yard, playing his banjo, listening to and writing bluegrass, driving his 1954 Chevy pick-up truck, cheering on the ‘Heels, crafting stained glass, eating at Eunice’s Country Kitchen, being an Assistant Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts, doing things for others, writing, improving his Spanish language skills, hiking, spending time with his family, and going to Holy Hour at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with his wife.   Marshall was an incredibly loving, caring, honorable, and kind father, husband, brother, son, grandfather (“Granpa”), uncle, cousin, and friend. He will always be remembered for his kindness, love of God, incredible story-telling ability, proofreading skills, creativity, patriotism, devotion to his family, incredible sense of humor, and ability to fix almost anything.   He is survived by his “darling” wife of 38 years, Mary Kay (Michalek) White; his daughter, Anna Lewarchik; his son, Peter (Kira) White; his grandchildren, George Leonard Lewarchik, Anthony White Lewarchik, and William Joseph White; his sisters, Libby Crumpton and Betty Ann (Mike) Smith; a sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Joseph Ruffin White, III, his sister, Mary Carson White, sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law.   Marshall’s memorial mass will be at Holy Martyrs Church, Tarentum, Pennsylvania on Thursday, October 5, 2017, at 10 AM with Rev. Thomas L. Gillespie, MD, officiating.  A memorial Mass will take place in Huntsville, Alabama, on a date to be determined.
