Martin W. Mistrik

February 15, 1931 — July 29, 2024

Harwick

Martin W. Mistrik, 93, of Harwick, peacefully joined his loved ones in heaven on Monday, July 29, 2024. He was born to Paul and Mary Hudek Mistrik on February 15, 1931 in Tarentum. He was a 1949 graduate of St. Joseph High School. Martin was an Air Force veteran during the Korean War, a foreman at Allegheny Ludlum, and a member of the Brackenridge American Legion, as well as the New Kensington Eagles. He was cared for by an outstanding team of medical professionals over the years. His beloved brother Emil Mistrik was always his hero and best friend. Those that knew Marty loved him.

He was a selfless, compassionate, generous man, the best father, grandfather, and great grandfather that anyone could ask for. He was always a caretaker and loved to make pots of his homemade chicken soup for his family. Some of his favorite past times included enjoying his morning coffee, playing along with game shows on tv, and watching the birds and wildlife for endless hours. Watching his grandkids and great grandkids play and grow has been one of his greatest joys in life. His family was his whole world.

In his final days he was surrounded in his home by his loving family, and the Monarch hospice crew, and maintained his sense of humor and grace until the end. He is survived by his adoring family: daughters Kimberly Ann (Jeff) Lettrich and Lisa Lynn (Greg) Decroo with whom he lived his last years. His precious grandchildren: Brittani (Lettrich) Namey and husband Mike Namey, Bethani Decroo and husband Adam Boyer, Carli Lettrich and husband Kyle Chamberlain, Joshua Decroo, and his precious great-grandchildren: Evelynn Namey, Addison Namey, Emerson Namey, and Lincoln Decroo.

A private family memorial will be held to honor his memory. Contributions in Martin’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Please send contributions in care of Duster Funeral Home. Arrangements by Duster Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 347 East 10th Avenue, Tarentum 15084, (724)-224-1526. Visit: dusterfh.com
