Mary Beth Mengel, 75, of Springdale Township, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born December 5, 1945 in Harrison Township to the late John and Ada Mae (Harmon) Hughes. Mary Beth has lived the past 50 years in Springdale Township where she was a homemaker and also worked as a Special Projects Coordinator for the University of Pittsburgh. She was a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Brackenridge and a 1963 graduate of Wilkinsburg High school. Mary Beth was very family oriented and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Robert D. Mengel; her daughters Jody A. Weiss (Michael Livingston), of Buffalo Twp., and Jennifer A. (David) Kearney, of Plum; grandchildren Brittany A. Weiss, of Bedford, Cody J. Weiss, of South Buffalo Twp. and Caleb J. Kearney, of Plum. Also surviving is a sister Robin Hughes, of Troy, NC. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a sister Dianne Risch.
A private family visitation will be held in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave., Tarentum, 724-224-1526 where a service will be held with her Pastor, Rev. Dr. Frank M. Yesko, officiating. Burial will be private in Freeport Cemetery. Family suggests contributions to St. Barnabas Episcopal Church or Allegheny Valley Association of Churches. VISIT: dusterfh.com
