Mary Dolfi 92, formerly of Monongahela, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights. She was born June 5, 1926 in Creighton to the late George and Mary (Loya) Pohan. Mary lived most of her life in Monongahela and was a secretary for ALCOA in New Kensington. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Tarentum and graduated in 1944 from East Deer High School. Mary was a volunteer at Mon Valley Hospital, for 20 years. Although Mary and Emil had no children, they were Mr. and Mrs. Claus to their nieces and nephews every Christmas. They had great joy in seeing the sparkle of children’s eyes opening Christmas gifts. Mary was faithful to and loved her cocker spaniels.
Survivors include her sister in law Helen Pochan, Cheswick. Also survived by her loving nieces, nephews, grand nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Besides parents she was preceded in death by her husband Emil Dolfi in 2000; brothers Andrew Pohan and Michael and Paul Pochan and a sister Virginia Burin and her loving great nephew Eli Bussotti.
Visitation 5-8 PM Friday in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526. Parastas will be held Friday in the FH at 7 PM. Panachida will be celebrated in the Funeral Home Saturday at 9:30 am followed by a Divine Liturgy at 10 AM in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Tarentum, with Rev. Wesley M. Mash, officiating.
