Mary L. (Uleski) Pilston, 86, of Natrona Heights, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights. She was born October 10, 1930 in Rimersburg, daughter of the late Joseph and Geraldine (Custer) Uleski. Mary lived the past 12 years in Natrona Heights, but most of her life in Tarentum. She was a homemaker and of the Christian faith. Mary was a member of the Eureka Hose Co. Women’s Auxiliary for 37 years and was a dispatcher for the original Eureka Hose Co. Ambulance Service. Mary received an art degree from Community College of Allegheny County. Her preferred media was acrylics and ceramics. She continued her art education for 25 years and had works shown in various art shows in the Monroeville area. In addition to art, Mary enjoyed traveling, gardening, sewing, baking, and making puzzles. She was also an avid reader. During her life she marched with the Tarentum High School majorette squad and performed with the Tarentum Red Knights Drum and Bugle Corp. She was an enthusiastic supporter of the Highland Cavaliers Junior Baton and Drum Corp. for 20 years and created many of their uniforms and props. In her later years, she had a special relationship for the patients and staff at the DaVita Dialysis Clinic of Natrona Heights. Survivors include her children William Robert (Mary Ann) Pilston, Jr., Gulf Shores, AL, Linda Hepler, Tucson, AZ, Cheryl (Raymond) Fortuna, Fawn Twp., Barbara (Rodger) O’Toole, Plum Boro, Karen (Dennis) Myers, Plum Boro, Cynthia Pilston & Todd Coudriet, Brackenridge, Pamela (Timothy) James, Brackenridge, Scott (Lisette) Pilston, Plum Boro, Rebecca (Jeffrey) Burchell, Natrona Heights, with whom she lived and had a special place in her heart for grandson Austin and a daughter in law Ronna Pilston, Frazer Twp.; 22 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister Pauline Michalek, Ann Arbor, MI. She also helped raise Ang DonGilli and remained close to his family. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband William Robert Pilston, Sr. in 1983, son Thomas Pilston, granddaughter Tara Lynne Pilston and sisters Frances Waible and JoEllen Uleski. Visitation 6-8 PM Sunday and Monday from 1-8PM in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526 where a family service will be held on Tuesday at 11AM.
