Mary Rose Hensel

         Mary Rose Hensel, 69, of Tarentum, passed away peacefully at home, Wednesday, February 14, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was born October 15, 1954 in Harrison Township, daughter of Rose Marie (Thimons) Hensel, of Tarentum and the late Henry P. “Harry” Hensel, Jr. Mary Rose was born and raised in Tarentum and was a Nun for Sisters of Divine Providence, Allison Park. She was a Teacher and CCD Coordinator at several local parishes and also was the Youth Director at the former Holy Martyrs Church, Tarentum and Our Lady of Victory, Harwick. She was a member of Guardian Angels Parish, Our Lady of Victory Church, Harwick. Mary Rose was a 1972 graduate of Highlands High School, earned her BA from La Roche College and her Master’s from Duquesne University. Mary Rose was the “activities” coordinator for all family functions and games. She especially loved spending time with her entire family, her siblings, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. 

            Besides her mother she is survived by her siblings, Jo Ann (Mark) George, of Lower Burrell, Michael P. (Suzan) Hensel, of Frazer Twp., Judith M. (Joseph) Strehlen, of Irwin and Matthias “Matt” Hensel, of Tarentum. Also surviving are 5 nieces and nephews and 7 great nieces and nephews. Besides her father she was preceded in death by her sister Margaret “Peggy” Michaels. 

            Visitation  2-6 PM Sunday in Duster Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 347 E 10^th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526. Christian funeral mass will be held Monday at 10 AM in Our Lady of Victory Church, Harwick. Burial will be in Sacred Heart-St. Peter Cemetery, Tarentum. VISIT: dusterfh.com
