Mary Ruman, 94, of Buffalo Township, passed away Monday, December 28, 2020 at Sunnyview Nursing Home, Butler. She was born July 21, 1926 in Trauger, PA to the late Michael Gavula and Veronica (Fedorushka) Gavula. She lived most of her life in Buffalo Township where she was a homemaker. She also worked in the office of Keystone Dairy, Parnassus, moved to Detroit to work for the Internal Revenue Service and moved home in 1947. Mary then worked for ALCOA in New Kensington as a Dictaphone Operator for 8 months, a Pizza shop in Freeport, Allegheny Valley Hospital, Irene Staceys & PARC, Saxonburg Library and the cafeteria at Blessed Sacrament school. Mary was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Church, Natrona Heights. She was a graduate of Plum High School and attended sewing school in New Kensington and graduated in 1945 from the Stenotype Institute of Pittsburgh. Mary had over 250 bus tours for challenged children.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary Ann (George E. ) Miller, Jr., of Butler and Cynthia Ruman, of Saxonburg; grandchildren Michael (Christine) Miller, and Matthew (Kim) Miller, both of CA., great grandchildren Rosalee, Harrison, Theodore and Kersey. Also surviving are her brothers Michael (Gloria) Gavula, of Harwick and John Gavula, of CA. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Frank J. “Romie” Ruman, Sr., son Frank Ruman, Jr. and step father Joseph Michnuk.
Private family visitation was held in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526 where a private Blessing service was conducted. Burial was in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights. VISIT: dusterfh.com
