Michael J. Slomkowski, Jr., 90, formerly of Brackenridge, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Hospice at Concordia, Cabot with his family by his side. He was born May 25, 1927 in Natrona, son of the late Michael and Mary (Wysocki) Slomkowski, Sr. Michael lived most of his life in Brackenridge and the last 4 years in Concordia. He was a Supervisor for PPG Industries in Creighton for 37 years. A WWII veteran, he served in the US Army in Rosenheim, Bavaria Germany. Michael was a member of Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Parish Most Blessed Sacrament worship site, Natrona Heights. He was a member of Brackenridge American Legion Post 48, Natrona Heights VFW, Natrona Knights of Columbus Council 2602 3rd Degree, Tarentum VFW Post 5758 and life member of Pioneer Hose, Brackenridge and Creighton Hose. Michael was also a crossing guard in Brackenridge, a former usher and member of church council, volunteered at the food bank and worked bingo. The family would like to thank the staff of Concordia Lutheran Ministries and Good Samaritan Hospice for their excellent care. Survivors include his wife of 69 years Jean (Guido) Slomkowski; children Kathleen (James W.) Geary, Tarentum, Michael J. (Ginni) Slomkowski, III, West Deer Twp., and Joseph A. (Rosemary) Slomkowski, Lower Burrell; grandchildren Jude (Kristen) Michaels, Erin (Christopher) Ritz, Kily (Adam) Maier, Lori (Sean) Reynolds, Melissa (Bob) Yohman, Justin (Sara) Slomkowski, Dr. Joshua (Miranda) Slomkowski; great grandchildren Christopher, Elizabeth and Anna Ritz, Peyton and Tanner Michaels, Landon and Kendall Maier, Tia Reynolds, Brenna and Noah Yohman, Johnny Slomkowski and Nora Slomkowski; brother Ronald (Sandy) Slomkowski, Las Vegas, NV; sisters in laws Shirley R. Guido and Donna Slomkowski. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death an infant son Victor, sister Marie Zilka and brothers Richard, Robert and Leonard Slomkowski. Christian funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10AM in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, Natrona Heights with Rev. Aaron J. Kriss, officiating.
