Milan E. Lovasik, 93, formerly of Tarentum, passed away Friday, October 14, 2022 at Presbyterian Sr. Care, Oakmont, PA. He was born October 12, 1929 in Tarentum to the late Stephen and Mary (Salisbery) Lovasik. Milan has lived in Harrisburg, Latrobe and Tarentum. He worked in the Restaurant and hotel industry as a chef, Maitre d, and wine sommelier for Lombardo’s Gaslight Restaurant and several others in Harrisburg for over 25 years as well as teaching cooking classes and as a free-lance caterer. Milan was a veteran of the US Army serving in the Korean era. He was a former member of Holy Martyrs Church in Tarentum and life-time member of the American Culinary Federation in St. Augustine, Fl. Milan graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1947, Culinary Institute of America in New Haven, CT class of 1964 and Hyde Park Culinary Institute.
Survivors include his nieces and nephews Gerri Fenoglietto, of Tarentum, Virginia (Steve) Namesnik, of Tarentum, Michelle (Dr. Richard) Byers, of Enon Valley, PA, Kathleen Bradenberg and Karen Bradenberg, both of Natrona Heights and Michael (Lisa) Lovasik. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his twin sister Mildred and sisters: infant Irene Lovasik, Wilma Kristofik and Marcella Bradenberg and brothers: Leo, Rev. Lawrence G., and Raymond Lovasik. He was also preceded in death by his longtime friend Joseph H. Blosser.
The family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to the staff of The Willows and Woodside at The Willows for the care and compassion Milan received during his time there.
Private family services were held in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave Tarentum, 724-224-1526 followed by burial in St. Clement Cemetery, Tarentum. VISIT: dusterfh.com
