Olimpia A. Karlo

Olimpia A. Karlo, 64, of East Deer Township, passed away peacefully Friday, Aug. 6, 2021, at her home surrounded by her loving husband and family. She was born May 24, 1957, in Russellton, a daughter of Stella and the late Thomas P. Argo. Olimpia lived most of her life in East Deer Township, where she was a homemaker while her children were young. Olimpia later went on to work at Thermo Twin industries in the sales department. Olimpia was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Parish Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church, Russellton. She was a Deer Lakes High School graduate in 1975, where she met her soulmate, sweetheart and spouse of 43 years. Olimpia enjoyed hosting many family gatherings, cooking, baking, gardening and decorating her beloved home for the holidays. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren, who affectionately called her "Nonni." Anyone who knew Olimpia would agree that she had a heart of gold and knew that her family always came first. She was and always will be adored by her family. Besides her mother, Stella Argo, of Russellton, Olimpia is survived by her husband of 43 years, John R. Karlo Jr., to whom she was known as "Limp;" daughters, Dr. Crystal (Dr. David De Wit) of Fairmont, W.Va., Dr. Jennifer (Steve) Slanicka, of Buffalo Township; a son, Thomas J. (Sarah) Karlo of West Deer Township; and grandchildren, Sofia and Siara Slanicka and David De Wit. Also surviving is her sister, Valerie (Edwin) Spangler, of Allison Park; and numerous nieces and nephews. A private Christian funeral Mass will be celebrated at Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church, Russellton, and burial will be at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Frazer Township.
