Ora B. Poole, 95, of Natrona Heights passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Platinum Ridge Nursing Home, Brackenridge. She was born June 18, 1922 in Sandy Creek to the late Weldon and Beatrice (Tunion) Washington. Ora lived in Natrona Heights and was raised in Creighton and Tarentum. Ora was a homemaker and was also employed as a Clerk at the former Joseph Horne, Co. in Natrona Heights retiring after 18 years. She was a member of Vermont Baptist Church, New Kensington and the NAACP, Pittsburgh and New Kensington branch. Ora graduated from Tarentum High School in 1940 and was very active in her church. She enjoyed traveling and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, Louvenia “Pennye” Mitchell, Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, Janice E. (William) Johnson, Tarentum, Clavetta E. Ziegler, Harrisburg, Carolyn Ann Godson, Brackenridge, Georgia Denise Pompey, Harrisburg, George E. (Michelle) Poole,Jr., Arnold ; also surviving are 18 grandchildren,21 great grandchildren and a sister Margaret “Gayle” Moss, Pittsburgh. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband George E. Poole, Sr. in 1997, granddaughter Denise Yvette (Belcher) Thomas and 8 brothers and sisters.
Visitation 2-6 PM Sunday in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526. Service Monday at 11 AM in Bethel AME Church, Tarentum with Rev. Dr. William Zachery, Jr. officiating and Rev. Stephen Marshall. Everyone please meet at church. Burial in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights.
