Natrona Heights

            Patricia Ann (Zaken) Magoc, 86, of Natrona Heights, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2024. She was born July 21, 1937 in Hendersonville, PA near Canonsburg. Daughter of the late John and Anna (Pohan) Zaken. Pat graduated from Plum High School in 1955. She grew up in Logans Ferry Heights. After marriage she moved to Tarentum,   then Sarver and finally Natrona Heights.

            She was a hairdresser for many years, working with her sister Michelle “Babe” out of their parent’s home, and then out of her and her husband Pete’s homes. Pat and Pete were married November 9, 1957 at SS. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Tarentum. Where they were active members their whole married life. Together they assisted in many fundraising activities, including numerous bake sales, and other church social events. Pat was honored to be the person providing the Priest with special baked bread for Holy Communion for many years. 

            She worked a few jobs locally, Valley News Dispatch, adding supplements to the daily papers. Gee Bee department store and Toys and Sporting Goods department for 10 years. After she and Pete retired, they attended daily liturgy, traveled frequently, Pat likes the casino trips. They spent time with their 10 grandchildren at their pool at home, and did a lot of baking, which Pat loved to do. She also was active in the Natrona Heights VFW with fundraising and the Brackenridge American Legion. 

            Her time spent baking supplied local and distant friends and relatives with Lady Locks, Nut Rolls and a variety of delicious cookies. She was also a devout Pirate, Penguin and Steelers fan.

            Survivors include her children Matthew (Tracie) Magoc, of Natrona Heights, Sharon (Carl) Misera, of Oakmont; son-in-law George Kabay, of Lower Burrell; and grandchildren Nicholas Magoc, Emily Magoc and her husband Arjun Yarlagaden, Kate Magoc, Erin Magoc, Taylor Magoc, Bethany (Pete) Nigra, Kayla Misera and husband Josh Saboorizadeh, Megan Misera (fiancé Mike Matjasko), Adam Kabay (fiancé Jess Grayburn) and Victor (Lexi) Kabay. Also surviving is her brother William (Yvonne) Zaken, of New Kensington and sister Michelle (Rick) Grandfield, of Delray Beach, FL. 

            Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Peter M. Magoc, Daughter Lorraine Kabay and infant grandson Jonathan Kabay.

            Visitation 4-7 PM Tuesday in Duster Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526 where a Panachida will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 followed by a Divine Liturgy at 10 am in SS Peter & Paul Church, Tarentum with Rev. Vasyl Polyak, officiating. Burial will be in Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Frazer Twp. A Parastas will be held in the funeral home Tuesday at 6PM. VISIT: DusterFH.com
