Peter M. “Pete” Magoc, 91, of Natrona Heights, passed away Sunday, February 6, 2022. He was born May 14, 1930 in Tarentum to the late Anthony and Margaret A. (Kalincask) Magoc. Pete lived in Natrona Heights since 1977 and prior to that Tarentum. He was a Supervisor at Allegheny Ludlum Steel Research, retiring after 45 years. Pete was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean War, where he was a Sergeant and ambulance driver for a MASH unit . He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Tarentum, Brackenridge American Legion, Tarentum Jednota, and formerly a member of Natrona Heights VFW and helped the clubs with social functions on many occasions. He was a member of the church choir and was active on the Church council for many years, and along with his wife, Pat they assisted in many of the churches fund raising bake sales. Peter graduated from Tarentum High School in 1948 and enjoyed bowling in the Allegheny Ludlum League and the Sts Peter and Paul league. Their home in Natrona Heights was the site of many Magoc family reunions, and many parties with family and friends. Dad enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, 10 in all at the swimming pool they built and baking with mom., nut rolls, lady locks and other baked goods.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Patricia A. (Zaken) Magoc; children Matthew (Tracie) Magoc, of Natrona Heights and Sharon (Carl) Misera, of Oakmont, son in law George Kabay, of Lower Burrell; grandchildren Nicholas Magoc, Emily Magoc and husband Arjun Yarlagaden, Kate Magoc, Erin Magoc, Taylor Magoc, Bethany (Pete) Nigra, Kayla Misera, Megan Misera, Adam Kabay and Victor (Lexi) Kabay. Also surviving is his sister Josephine Berkoben, of Tarentum. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Lorraine Kabay, grandson Jonathan Kabay and five brothers, Thomas, Stephen, John, Andrew and Frank Magoc.
Visitation 4-7PM Wednesday in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526 where a Panachida will be held Thursday at 9:30 am followed by a Divine liturgy at 10 AM in Sts Peter and Paul Church, Tarentum with Fr. Vasyl Polyak, officiating. Burial will be in Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Frazer Twp. A Parastas will be held 6 PM Wednesday in the funeral home. The family requests that everyone please wear a mask.
