Randall Lee Hughan Sr., 72, of Allegheny Township, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Tuesday April 8, 2025. He was born May 28,1952 in New Kensington to the late Paul and Eula Mae (McCutcheon) Hughan. Randall lived all of his life in Allegheny Township. He worked for PPG in RIDC Park for 23 years as a supervisor in the Fiberglass Research Industry, where he received many awards and accolades acknowledging his leadership and development in his research. His contributions led to the development of MPM HTX Chopped Strand Mat, and many other new products which are still being used worldwide today. He was also a Haz-Mat tech for PPG’s Hazardous Material Control and Emergency Response team. His research and contributions paved the way and opened opportunities for new ideas and products in the Fiberglass Industry. Randy’s efforts and experience caught the attention of one of the scientists and was then offered to start a new research center, Di-Electric, where he continued his efforts until he retired in his field. He went on to work at PennDOT for 8 years before fully retiring. During his younger years, Randy and his father helped his grandfather, Max McCutcheon, and his uncle, Olen McCutcheon start McCutcheon Enterprises, which is now a major leader in the hazardous waste management and emergency response field. He worked for McCutcheon Enterprises for approximately 20 years even while working at PPG.

(Michael) Moyle, all of Allegheny Township; grandchildren Dylon, Lyndsey, Ashley, Shane, Rylie, and Liam. Also surviving are his brothers Paul (Doris) Hughan of Allegheny Township, and Jeffrey (Susan) Hughan, of Apollo. Besides his parents he is preceded in death by a granddaughter Brooke Mackenzie Moyle in 2020, and a brother, William M. Hughan in 2019.
Randy was an extremely hard-working man. He was an amazing provider, husband, father, and grandfather. He always made sure his family wanted for nothing and is always taken care of, and that he left them a legacy to remember and cherish forever. Randy was gifted with many talents in life and was a true “MacGyver,” a jack of all trades. He always said there was a way to do everything and nothing was impossible. He was the type of man who didn’t just have ideas, he built dreams, starting with his beautiful home he designed and built with his bare hands with the help of his father, and father-in-law as well as his brothers. He was a kind, caring, generous man who would stop at nothing to ensure he helped those in need. He had a unique sense of humor and was known for his own set of one liners that are used timelessly among his friends and family. Randy loved his family deeply and wanted nothing but the best for them, while he proclaimed he needed nothing for himself. He was a problem solver and tirelessly worked to make life easier. There was nothing that he couldn’t do or accomplish. He had a will to live and a fight in him that was unmatched. He was a true warrior. He was not a man of many words, but a man of big deeds. He was the most honest, humble, loyal man, and was a man you could rely on always, without a doubt. Randy was a patriarch and a pillar of strength to his family. He will be deeply and sorely missed, and cherished and treasured forever and always. He left behind a legacy of teachings and love to never be forgotten. His family was blessed with an amazing man in their lives who impacted everyone he knew. He had many beautiful angels waiting for him. We know that God has welcomed him into His kingdom and graced him with peace, love, and all that is promised in Heaven.
