September 15, 1958 — January 23, 2024

Lower Burrell

Raymond Francis Cornuet Jr, 65, of Lower Burrell, passed away peacefully in his own home Tuesday, January 23rd, 2024 after a hard-fought battle with bile duct cancer. He was born September 15th, 1958 in Natrona Heights, son of the late Raymond Francis Cornuet Sr. and Marjory A. (Burnham) Cornuet. Ray was a 1977 Burrell High School graduate, and then graduated with a Computer Science degree from Penn State University as well as a Chemistry degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He was a chemist by trade and spent 22 years working at PPG Industries and then retired from Spectrochemical Laboratories after many years in March of 2022. He was actively involved with the Cub & Boy Scout programs throughout his entire life, first becoming an Eagle Scout through Troop 141 and then becoming a Cub Master later in life as an adult. He thoroughly enjoyed his time through the many scouting adventures including community service outings, camping/hiking trips, and seeing the success of the kids from the pack/troop as they grew older. He also was an avid local sports fan who was often found coaching his sons’ little league teams, serving as president of both the Burrell Gridiron club and Burrell Basketball Boosters, as well as cheering on the Burrell Wrestling team through their conquest of WPIAL & State Championships. Outside of scouting and sports, he enjoyed the time spent in his garden and being around to talk with friends, family, and the neighbors whenever he could. Ray is survived by his wife of 32 years, Pamela K. (Schrecengost) Cornuet; son, Shane F. (Kelly) Cornuet of Forward Township; brother Keith A. (Sandra) Cornuet, of Palmetto, Florida; sisters Rebecca C. Waltz, of Greensburg and Margaret A. “Peggy” (Robert) White, of Gibsonia; father-in-law R. Neil Schrecengost, of Rural Valley; mother-in-law, Janet R. (Longstreth) Schrecengost of Shelocta; brothers-in-law Joseph Schrecengost, of Rural Valley and Steve (Lisa) Schrecengost of Rural Valley; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Noah Cornuet, and mother-in-law Sarah (Bowser) Schrecengost.
