Regina “Jean” Cattery McGowan, 84, formerly of Tarentum, passed away at home Saturday, July 30, 2022 after being ill the past 7 years. She was born December 14, 1937 in Sharpsburg to the late Anthony and Emma (Thomas) Cattery. Jean has lived the past 13 years in Allegheny Township, 40 years in Tarentum, prior to that Springdale, Sharpsburg and Pittsburgh. She was a homemaker and a member of Guardian Angels Parish, Holy Martyrs Church, Tarentum. Jean graduated from Allegheny High School in Pittsburgh and enjoyed reading, sewing and knitting. She especially loved her family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years Philip W. McGowan; her children Kathleen M. Stewart, of Natrona Heights, Karen A. (Ron) Magoc, of Natrona Heights, Linda J. (Joe) Riddle, of Lower Burrell, Donald C. (Anne) McGowan, of Bethel Park, Diane S. (Charles) Cickavage, of Springdale, Maureen A. (Harvey) Urbanski, of Allegheny Twp., Michael P. (Priti) McGowan, of Shaler Twp. and James A. (Stacey) McGowan, of Penn Twp.; 22 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister Marian Olszewski, of Ocoee, FL and a sister-in-law Judy Cattery, of Valrico, FL. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings, Frank and Vernard Arzberger, Anna Marie Arnold and Anthony Cattery.
Visitation 2-4 and 6-8 PM Thursday in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526. Christian funeral mass will be celebrated Friday at 10 AM at Holy Martyrs Church, Tarentum with Rev. Aaron J. Kriss, officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Verona. VISIT: dusterfh.com
