Richard A. Olean, 93, of Lower Burrell, passed away Friday, September 4, 2026 at Rosebrook Nursing Home, Sarver. He was born April 5, 1933 in Creighton, PA to the late John and Pauline (Sidun) Olean. Richard was a laborer for PPG Creighton and Ford City, retiring after 44 years of service. He was drafted into the US Army in 1958, serving in the Korean War and was discharged in 1955 after traveling thru many European countries during his two-year service. Richard was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Tarentum and the American Slovak Club, Creighton. He graduated from East Deer High School. Hunting and fishing were Richard's favorite things to do. He was a member of a camp in Potter County for many years. He also enjoyed going to Las Vegas and the local casinos. And enjoyed gardening and all of the Pittsburgh sports.
Survivors include his wife Genevieve J. (Bologna) Olean; son James (Janet) Olean and grandchildren Ryan Olean, Marissa (Jake) Savitz. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Andy, John, Charles, George, Steve and Mike Olean and Ann Kozier.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Wednesday in Duster Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526, where a Panachida will be held Thursday at 9:30am followed by a Divine Liturgy at 10 AM in Sts. Peter & Paul Church, Tarentum, with the Very Rev. Vasyl Polyak, officiating. Burial will be in Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Frazer Twp. A Parastas will be held in the funeral home Wednesday at 7:30 PM VISIT: dusterfh.com
