Richard K. Shank Sr.

August 27, 1937 — April 16, 2023

Richard Kenneth Shank, Sr., 85, of Fawn Township, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2023, peacefully with his family by his side. He was born August 27, 1937, New Kensington, to the late Jacob and Aida Viola Shank. Richard lived the past 50 years in Fawn Township where he retired as a machinist at Edgar Industries, Upper Burrell. He had also in the past owned his own machine shop, RNB Machine Shop in Natrona. He also worked for Allen Gauge and Tool Company, Evco Industries, Jetco Machining, Douglas Aircraft, Edgewater Steel, and Boeing Aircraft. He was a member of Center United Methodist Church. Richard went to Ken-Hi High School.  He was known as Santa Claus (or Ho Ho) at the Eat 'N Park (Pittsburgh Mills), Center United Methodist Church, and Jenn's Play Care (North Apollo). He loved giving out toys and coins with his late wife, (Roberta {Bobbi}). He loved helping his wife with ceramics, going to the Freeport Senior Center, playing bingo and doing crafts, he loved children, and friends. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Survivors include his children, Richard K. (Carla) Shank Jr., of Apollo and Nancy Hill, of Sarver; grandchildren, Richard C. Shank, of Wexford, Michael (Tina Arduini) Shank, of Michigan, Tamara Shank, of Vandergrift, Shannon E. (Matt) Provanzo Hill, of Florida, Jeffrey Hill Jr., of Sarver and Shane Paul (fiancee, Kristen Brothers) Hill, of Sarver; great-grandchildren Cady, Finn and Maiya Shank. Also surviving is his sibling, Dolores Quarles of Springdale. Besides his wife who passed in 2021, he was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Shank, in 1982, his parents, and sister, Margaret Quarles and brothers, Gerald and James. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, April 21, with the service to follow at 1 p.m. in Center United Methodist Church, 1575 Donnellville Road Tarentum, PA 15084, with the Rev. Drew Myers officiating.  Richard was a believer in hard work and being comfortable in life.  He loved to wear blue jeans and t shirts over suits and dress clothes so please come comfortable in his honor in your comfortable clothes. A light lunch will follow in church social hall. Burial will be private. Arrangements by DUSTER FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 347 E. 10th Ave., Tarentum, 724-224-1526.
