Robert A. "Bob" Burns

July 24, 1938 — February 2, 2026

Jefferson Township

Robert A. “Bob” Burns, 87, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026, in Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania. Born on July 24, 1938, in Creekside, Pennsylvania, Bob lived a full and meaningful life rooted in quiet joys, deep family connections, and a steadfast work ethic.

With a 38-year tenure at the Alcoa Technical Center, Bob was a dedicated technical photographer and expert in electron microscopy, defined by his precision and commitment to excellence.

He was a man who found contentment in life’s simple pleasures—hiking along wooded trails, listening to the rumble of a summer thunderstorm from his front porch, or walking through the stillness of freshly fallen snow. Bob also found joy in hunting and fishing, pursuits that connected him to the natural world he cherished so deeply.

Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Sally Burns; daughter, Laura Burns; parents, Roy and Virginia (Sadler) Burns; sister, Lucille (Ronald) Long; brother, Leslie (Margie) Burns, and his recent companion of 10 years, Norma Laughner.

He is survived by his son, Randall Burns (John Francona); daughter, Susan Rice (John); grandson, Justin Rice (Kathryn); granddaughter, Chelsea Stuart (Chris); great-granddaughters, Reagan and Blake Rice; great-grandson, Hunter Rice; and great-granddaughter, “Baby Stuart,” soon to arrive. Bob also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, along with their spouses and families—each of whom held a special place in his heart.

Bob will be fondly remembered by family and friends for his acts of kindness and his unwavering strength. His legacy lives on through those who loved him and through the thoughtful, gentle way he approached life.

May his memory bring comfort and peace to all who knew him.

At Bob’s request, there will be no visitation or formal service. A family gathering will be held later this year to celebrate his life. Arrangements by Duster Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526.
