Robert James "RJ" OKunewick

Robert James “RJ” OKunewick, 22, of Indiana Township, passed away on Friday, November 18,2022 following a courageous  10-month battle with Lymphoma cancer. He was born August 25, 2000 in Pittsburgh, son of Eric A. and Gretchen M. (Lascek) OKunewick, of Indiana Township. Robert lived most of his life in Indiana Twp. and was a graduate of  St. Vincent College, Latrobe and was about to begin his student  teaching. He was a member of Our Lady of Angels Parish, St. Augustine Church, Lawrenceville and was a former Boy Scout. Robert graduated from Fox Chapel High School in 2018 and St. Vincent College in 2022 with a BA degree in History, Secondary education.                                                                                                   

While at Fox Chapel High School, Robert was a member of the football team, wrestling team, and the ultimate frisbee team. Robert sang in the choir at Fox Chapel and was in the musical play Shrek. He was also in the youth groups at Our Lady of the Angels and St. Margaret & Mary Parishes as well as an alter server.

 Besides his parents, survivors include his siblings, Charles F. OKunewick, of Elizabeth and Alaina R. OKunewick, at home. Also surviving is his maternal grandmother Rosella (Desmone) Lascek, of Natrona Heights. Robert was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents James and Shirley (Corcoran) OKunewick and maternal grandfather Robert Lascek.

  Visitation will be Monday and Tuesday  from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10^th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526. A Christian Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday Nov 23rd at 10:00 AM in St. Augustine Church, 234 37^th Street, Lawrenceville. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH.
