Ronald Lee Reckhart

I share with great sadness, that Ronald Lee Reckhart, 85, of Cabot, formerly of Natrona Heights and Lower Burrell, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia Cabot. Ron was born February 8, 1937 in Sarver son of the late Darold Reckhart, Sr. and mother Helen McCafferty. He graduated from Freeport High School in 1955. He continued his education at Clarion University and received his Master’s degree at Fisk University. He was a Science teacher at Highlands School District until retiring in 1974 on disability.

            Ron and his wife Eileen have been married for 52 years and have shared many years of happiness and love together. Ron is of the Methodist faith and he and Eileen have been active members of Trinity United Methodist Church of Brackenridge since married there in 1969.

            He was well known as “Mr. Tennis” while he and his wife ran the Greater New Kensington area Tennis tournament from 1975 to 1989 and he was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins, being a season ticket holder for many years.

            In recent years he has been known as the “Candyman” and photographer at Trinity United Methodist Church and at home in Concordia Independent Living Apartments, Haven 1.

            Ron is survived by his wife, Eileen (Demma) Reckhart; brother Charles “Larry” Reckhart, of Cabot and many nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and friends. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his Godson Ernesto “Nino” Nicastro and brother Darold Reckhart, Jr.

            Visitation 3-6 PM Sunday in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526 where a service will be conducted Monday at 11AM with his pastor Rev. Gregory L. Spencer, officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights. An additional service will be conducted Monday at 1:30 PM at Concordia Haven I Chapel with Pastors Gregory L. Spencer and Jack Hartman, Chaplain officiating.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ron’s name to Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Good Samaritan Endowment Fund, 134 Marwood Rd., Cabot, PA 16023.
