Mrs. Rosalind Jean (Woods) Corrigan, 81, of Sarver, passed away on March 5, 2024, at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot. Rosalind was born in New Kensington, PA, on December 1, 1942, the daughter of the late Angela (Onesi) and Russell Woods. Rosalind graduated from New Kensington High School in 1960 and later completed business courses at Pittsburgh's Robert Morris University in 1962. She married Joseph F. Corrigan on May 16, 1964, and moved to Los Angeles, CA, where she worked as an administrative assistant in the publishing industry. After the birth of their first son, they returned to the Western PA area but always maintained the close friendships they had developed together in California.
Rosalind was an award-winning artist at an early age and enjoyed painting, crafts, and decorating her home for the holidays. A cancer survivor, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was also an excellent cook. With her oldest son in elementary school and her youngest son a toddler, Rosalind returned to school. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Butler Community College in 1979 as a Registered Nurse, earning the Dean's List, President's List and named to the PHI THETA KAPPA Honorary Fraternity. Rosalind started her nursing career at the Harmarville Miners Clinics. She later moved on to the nationally-ranked teaching hospital, Pittsburgh's UPMC Shadyside, where she advanced to lead the state's Healthy Beginnings Plus program at Shadyside as O.B. Care Coordinator within the hospital's Family Health Center. In this role, she assisted low-income pregnant women to achieve a positive prenatal care experience by rendering services that met women's psychosocial needs in addition to traditional medical/obstetric services. Rosalind retired from this role at UPMC in 2006
Rosalind engaged in her passions during retirement: antiquing, history, researching family genealogy, travel, and her grandchildren. Rosalind enjoyed driving around the Eastern U.S. with her husband, visiting Irish, art & music festivals, exploring old churches to review records, and seeking antiques for her small shop. They also traveled further afield with visits to Denver to see her youngest son and internationally, visiting Ireland, her husband's family in France, her oldest son and his family in Tokyo, Japan, and ocean cruises. She was also an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Rosalind is survived by her husband, Joseph Corrigan, of Sarver; son, Sean (Michiko) Corrigan and their children, Connor & Mia, of Atlanta, GA; son, Patrick Corrigan, of Denver, CO; as well as her brother, Reginald (Amanda) Woods of Lake Milton, OH. Rosalind is preceded in death by her sister, Bernadine (Woods) Grillo, and her parents, Russell and Angela (Onesi) Woods.
