Sarah A. Montgomery

Sarah A. Montgomery, 91, formerly of South Buffalo Township, passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at her home at Barclay Friends, West Chester, PA. She was born October 26, 1929, in Harrison Township to the late John and Ethel (Gibson) Harmon. Sarah lived most of her adult life in South Buffalo Township and prior to that the Harrison Twp. area. She graduated in 1949 from Freeport High School. In addition to being a mother and homemaker, Sarah supported her husband Jim doing the bookkeeping for the family business, Freeport Hardware. Sarah was a devoted Christian and was very active as member of Center United Methodist Church, Natrona Heights. She sang in the soprano section church choir and also taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Sarah enjoyed travel, bowling, playing cards, baking, and, in her later years, spending winter months in Florida with her husband. She especially enjoyed her family, children and her grandchildren.

            Survivors include her children: Kevin J. Montgomery, of Kittanning, Celeste Montgomery, of Exton, PA, and Todd A. Montgomery, of Kittanning. Also surviving are her grandchildren Shawna, Michael, and Marlaina, and 7 great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James F. Montgomery; a grandson Trevor, and her siblings Harold, John “Jack”, Donald, Roy and Richard “Dick” Harmon; Lossie Heffran and Madlyn Songer.

            Visitation will be Sunday 4-6 PM in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10^th Ave, Tarentum 724-224-1526, where services will be held on Monday at 11 AM with her pastor Rev. C. Drew Myers, officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights.
