Stephen R. “Peppey” Smarick, 82, of Natrona Heights, passed away at home on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. He was born May 16, 1941 in Natrona Heights to the late Steve and Mary (Laseck) Smarick. Stephen lived most of his life in Natrona Heights and retired from Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp, Brackenridge after 25 years, and worked in the 8-2 Department as a Turn Foreman.
He was a veteran of the US Army. Stephen was a member of Guardian Angels Parish, Most Blessed Sacrament Campus, Natrona Heights. He was a 1959 graduate of St. Joseph High School. Stephen enjoyed his camp in Forest County, woodworking, was an avid fisherman and was a member of AA for 39 years.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Joyce L. (Zabec) Smarick; sons Sean D. (Lisa) Smarick, of North Huntingdon and Todd A. (Charlene) Smarick, of Lower Burrell. Also surviving are his grandchildren Timothy, Brooke and Heather and a brother Richard (Jane) Smarick, of Annapolis,MD. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Edward Smarick in 1994 and sister Dorothy Kuruc in 2021.
Visitation 4-7 PM Friday in the Duster Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 347 E10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526. Christian funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday at 12:30 PM in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, Natrona Heights. Burial will be private.
