Violet Sagath

April 9, 1929 — January 14, 2024

Fawn Township

Violet Sagath, 94, of Fawn Township, died peacefully with her family and caregivers by her side, as she went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, January 14, 2024.

Violet was born April 9, 1929 in Natrona, the daughter of the late Gavin and Elizabeth (Muir) Chittick. She was the last remaining family member out of 4 children.

On May 30, 1953, she married the love of her life, Samuel Sagath, and they shared their life together until Sam's death in 2004.

Violet had a remarkable memory for both historical and personal life events. People loved listening to her life experiences and adventurous spirit. She would regale listeners with stories of long-ago times and her once bustling beloved towns of Natrona and Tarentum.

She enjoyed all forms of dancing with her husband Sam, knitting, crocheting, preparing delicious dinners, solving Sudokus and doing Word Search books.

Violet was a highly skilled seamstress, designing gowns and other clothing with her own patterns. Violet was always there for her family and friends and would do whatever she could to help them.

Always most important to her were her Lutheran faith and Family.

Violet was an active member of the Daughters of Scotia where she held earlier offices.

In earlier years, Violet worked for the Highlands School District in different capacities and at her brother-in-law, Louis Sagath's Golden Dawn supermarket.

In addition to her parents, Violet was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Samuel in 2004; her siblings, Barr T. Chittick, Sr., Jean Lynn and Elizabeth Collins, her nephews, David G. Lynn and Barr T. Chittick, Jr. and her brothers-in-law, William F. Collins and David Lynn.

Violet is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Joyce (Greg Smith), her nieces, Bonnie Lynn (Dave Oberholtz), Suzanne Braunlich (Martin), Ruth Medved ( Al ).

The family extends special thanks to Violet's caregivers, Veronica, Jen, April, Dion and Debbie's Angels for their devoted care, love and kindness to Violet.
