Violet Wojcik, 92, of New Kensington, passed away at her daughter Susan’s home on Saturday, July 22, 2023 surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with dementia. . She was born February 27, 1931 in Kaska, PA, daughter of the late Andrew and Julia (Hludzik) Spece. Violet lived in New Kensington since 1956 where she was a homemaker. She also was employed at ALCOA, Wearever Division in New Kensington. Violet was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Tarentum and was a 1949 graduate of East Deer High School.
Violet enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, bowling, walking, reading and polka dancing. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved watching granddaughter Lexi cheer, playing checkers and watching grandson Zach play baseball and was so proud of her granddaughter Kasamira’s musical talent with the flute and cello. Violet absolutely treasured all the get togethers with her sisters with whom she had a close bond. Violet was the sweetest, kindest, caring, generous and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her children, Jerry W. Wojcik Lt Commander (retired) and (Deborah) of Hampton, VA and Susan C. (Donald) Allen, of Buffalo Twp.; grandchildren Kasamira L. Wojcik, Lexi E. Allen and Zachary D. Allen. Also surviving are her sisters, Rose (George)Olean, Angeline (Robert) Kline, Theresa (Joseph) Kissell, Sylvia (Steve) Matusovich, and Arlene (Richard) McCullough and sister-in-law Ann Spece. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, especially Janet and a very special friend Mary Murray Stombaugh. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Henry “Riz” Wojcik, a son Gary Wojcik and brother Andrew John Spece.
A private family visitation was held in Duster Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526. However, relatives and friends are invited to attend a Divine Liturgy Wednesday at 10 AM in Sts. Peter & Paul Church, Tarentum. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Lower Burrell. VISIT: DusterFH.com
