Virginia Jean Vascik of Marienville,Pa. formerly of Tarentum passed away Sat,Jan 13 in her home from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. She was born May 7,1921 in New Kensington a daughter of the late Arthur and Margaret (Greco) Jannello. Jean enjoyed a long productive life.Her career as a beautician spanned over 45 years. She was employed as a beautician for Jennie’s Beauty shop in Tarentum and was owner of Jean’s Beauty shop in Brackenridge. Balancing a career and being a busy mother of seven,Virginia was able to spend countless hours volunteering as a den mother with the Boy Scouts of America. She enjoyed her time spent on her hobbies,loved sewing,and was passionate about drawing and painting and enjoyed taking classes at the Sawmill Center for the Arts in Cooksburg,Pa. Jeans beautiful artwork was shared with many friends and family. She took great pleasure spending as much time outdoors as she could living near Cooks Forest the past 45 yrs She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Crown, Pa. and Holy Martyrs Church in Tarentum. Virginia is survived by her seven children,Arthur J.(Kathy) Vascik,Buffalo Twp, Bernadette Vascik,Leeper,Pa., Elaine (Joseph) McCullough,Fawn Twp, Celeste Kennedy,Barnett Twp, Raymond Vascik, Frazer Twp, Michael Vascik, Bethel,Maine,and Gerard (Lora) Vascik, of Milton,FL. She was a grandmother to 16 beautiful grandchildren,and 11 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 yrs,Joseph F. Vascik,Jr. and brothers and sisters, Anthony Jannello,Lillian Pelligrino,Sister Mary Irene Jannello, Kathryn Gehenio, Adelaide Schwenn, Violet Robinson, John Jannello, Gloria Gehenio, and Regis Jannello and Josephine Pencheck. Visitation will be Wed, Jan 17 from 2PM to 8 PM in the Duster Funeral Home,Inc. 347 East 10th Avenue,Tarentum 15084(724)224-1526 where a prayer service will be conducted on Thurs at 10:30 AM followed by a Christian Funeral Mass at 11 AM in Holy Martyrs Church,Tarentum with Rev. Dr. Thomas L. Gillespie,MD ,Pastor officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Airy Cemetery,Natrona Hghts.
