William Johnson, 79, of Tarentum, passed away following a brief illness Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at St. Margaret Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born June 16, 1944 in Girard, OH to the late James and Delores (Jackson) Johnson. William lived most of his life in Tarentum and was of the Baptist faith. William was a letter carrier for the US Postal Service in the Pittsburgh area. He was a veteran of Vietnam era serving in the US Army. William graduated from Niles High School in Ohio and enjoyed softball, golf and was a Pittsburgh sports fan. William especially enjoyed his family, children and his grandchild.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Janice E. (Poole) Johnson, daughter Sheree L. Johnson, at home and grandson William P.T. “Tiger” Johnson, at home. Also surviving is his sister Charlene (Rev. Dr. Mack) Thompson, of Youngstown, OH and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation 2-5 PM Sunday in Duster Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526 where services will be held on Monday at 11 AM with his nephew Rev. Neill Morgan, officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights. VISIT: DusterFH.com
