William D. Thompson, 74, of Tarentum, passed away at home Monday, October 31, 2022 after being ill the past year. He was born August 28, 1948 in Harrison Township to the late William J. and Kathleen M. (Black) Thompson. William lived in Fawn Township and the past 45 years in Tarentum. He was a Coal miner in New Field and other mines and also worked at Republic Steel Mine. William was a Vietnam veteran serving in the US Marine Corps and received a Purple Heart. He was of the Methodist faith and a member of the Tarentum VFW. William graduated from Tarentum High School and enjoyed spending tike with his family and especially his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Patricia A. (Thiry) Thompson; children David (Danielle) Thompson, of Tarentum, Brian Thompson, of Washington, PA and Christian (Sissy) Thompson, of Tarentum; grandchildren Chaz Taylor, Drake Thompson, Brian Vickers, Brianna Thompson, Tyler Thompson, Alexis Thompson and Jamison Vickers. Also surviving are his siblings Robert D. (Linda) Thompson, of Jefferson Twp., Ronald L. (Mary Sue) Thompson, of New Kensington, Donald “Luke” (Marcia) Thompson, of Fawn Twp., Kathy (Michael) Walters, of Fawn Twp. and Diane (Stephen) Irvine, Sr., of Clinton Twp. A memorial tribute and gathering of family and friends will be Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Tarentum VFW, 208 E 4th Avenue, Tarentum, PA 15084.
