Winnie Opal Rosenberg, 99, of Natrona Heights, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2022, at St. Margaret Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born October 16, 1923 in Seminary, Mississippi to the late William E. and Tabitha (Thompson) Speed. Winnie lived the past 3 years in Natrona Heights and prior to that Winter Haven, Florida. She was a homemaker and also was a writer, and composed a book of poetry. Winnie was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Sarver and served many years as ward and stake Relief Society President in her church in Florida. Winnie also worked for the Public Health Department during WWII. She enjoyed reading, sewing, family genealogy and writing poetry.
Survivors include her son and daughter- in- law with whom she made her home the past 3 years, Dr. George L. (Wendy) Rosenberg, Natrona Heights; grandchildren Kjell (Susan) Rosenberg, Jared (Dara) Rosenberg, Julie (Jared) Trent, Carrie (Stephen) Gardner, Joshua (Kate) Rosenberg, Michael (Whitney) Rosenberg, Matthew Rosenberg and Bryan (Hannah) Rosenberg and 27 great- grandchildren. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Henry Rosenberg in 2005; two brothers Harry and Jewel Speed and a sister Ella Ruth Speed.
Visitation 6-8 PM Sunday in the Duster Funeral Home, Inc. 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526. Services will be held Monday at 10 AM in Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Sarver with Bishop Brandon Bodily, officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Burial will be in Speed Family Cemetery, Seminary, Mississippi. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Humanitarian Fund of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Sarver.
